After a quick trip a little north of the main formations of Monument Valley, we headed to our fourth "must see" natural phenomenon--Antelope Canyon.
We followed Highway 160 south past Kayenta, AZ, picked up Highway 98, and headed north to Page, AZ.
The highways took us through desert land with barely a hint of human presence.
The landscape, nonetheless, had a beauty unique to the Southwest.
Coupled with some dramatic cloud formations, the scenery took on a special attraction.
We welcomed the contrast that man-made structures provided, but we wondered what qualities motivated people to live so far from... everything.
It was an easy drive, so we decided to enjoy the landscape.
