Natural and Man-made Marvels

As was the case with many areas of the South and Southwest (and, I guess, most of the country), it was a colder than usual winter. For the RV Park where we stayed, the cold weather was especially cold--and costly. Three straight days of freezing temperatures destroyed 180 palm trees in the park called Cajun Palms. When we left, the staff were just beginning to plant the replacement palms.

We caught this sunset one of the last nights in Breaux Bridge.

The view to the east caught this colorful display and the moon (in the upper right hand corner of the photo below and in the next photo).
When we left the park, we headed east on one of the most interesting stretches of I-10.
This 18-mile stretch between Lafayette and Baton Rouge is the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge. The pair of parallel bridges is the second-longest bridge in the US.
While traveling along this bridge, I still marvel at what I see while driving at tree top level and at what the construction of this bridge must have involved.

And it was on to Biloxi, Mississippi.
